Why A Foundation?

The Timiro Farah Foundation (TFF) was created as a vehicle to carry on the mission and works of the late Timiro Farah Ayanle of Beledwayn, Somalia. Born to uneducated parents and illiterate herself, Timiro spent her life serving others. From a young age, she sacrificed her time, wealth, and energy to help the orphans and needy around her reach their human potential for excellence. Providing those in need with the means of survival like food and drink, clothing and shelter – even education – she was a source of strength, a symbol of hope, and it is due to her efforts that many today enjoy a successful, fruitful life.

 

Timiro’s Approach

Timiro Farah motivated others to positively approach life, and have trust in God and confidence that tomorrow would be brighter. She assisted them psychologically, and supported them in any way she could as they embarked on their individual life journeys to achieve success. With the blessing of God, Timiro was instrumental in raising pilots, teachers, engineers and business people who now work around the world.

 

The Timiro Farah Foundation’s Approach

It is in Timiro’s same noble spirit that we at the Timiro Farah Foundation (TFF) organize ourselves. It is our goal to support unnoticed women, men and children like Timiro in their efforts to make a difference in the lives of those who need help the most. Unlike other charity organizations, we do not believe that we can be the ones to create lasting improvements with in a community – rather, these changes should come within the community themselves. TFF focuses on searching and finding these unnoticed altruists (the “lights” within the community) who may be struggling in their endeavors and provide them with the funding and resources they need to succeed and expand on their efforts. With our focus on brightening these lights, rather than simply handing down money or resources or starting projects that the community may not want or need, we hope to truly remain independent, trustworthy, free from corruption, and supportive of the local community. Also, by depending on local people, the changes will best be locally monitored and solutions best be locally implemented and managed. Finally, by empowering the people of a community to improve themselves, we believe that these improvements will be far more lasting and would inspire others in the community to help as well.

We are also working on other high-need projects, including water well excavation, education, economic development and providing emergency relief via humanitarian aid. We are committed to helping individuals do more than just eat and drink and stay alive; we are committed to helping the orphans and the needy dare to dream, and realize those dreams.
